Sexual Violence Center

SVC’s mission is this: At the Sexual Violence Center, it is our mission to eradicate sexual violence and abuse by:

Challenging the systems and individuals that promote privilege, oppression and domination,

Educating those that will join us as advocates and catalysts for change, and

Supporting those who have been victimized, empowering them to not only survive but thrive, finding power and movement in our collective voices.

The way you can get involved!

Throughout the year, the Sexual Violence Center (SVC) offers 10-15 no-cost support groups for victims and survivors of sexual violence and their loved ones ages 12 and older. SVC support groups are held in universities, correctional facilities, transitional housing programs, high schools, and onsite at our NE Minneapolis office location. Support group participants benefit greatly from having art supplies and sensory tools (fidgets, Play-Doh), as well as non-perishable food items (bulk bags of suckers or granola bars) as they find ways to engage in their healing process and find solidarity with others. Art supplies and food items are not currently funded through our programming, and we would greatly appreciate donations for these groups. Items include: colored pencils, crayons, markers, coloring books or pages, fine-tipped Sharpies, water color, glitter pens, glue, glue sticks, Play-Doh, clay, fidget spinners, non-perishable candy or other food items.

During the run of “The Resistance of My Skin” you’ll be able to talk to folks from SVC and bring a donation of art supplies for them to use in their groups. (If you forget to bring your supplies, we’ll have some that you can buy and donate immediately at our merch table.)

Transforming Families

Transforming Families is a community where transgender, gender non-conforming, and questioning youth and their families come together to support each other in a safe, welcoming space. At our monthly gatherings, separate breakout groups for parents, kids, siblings, and teens provide the opportunity to meet and learn from other people traveling the same path.
